Universal I-Joist Hanger To maintain Cullen's reputation as the leading designer and innovator in timber engineering connector technology, we have designed a product that solves one of the biggest problems encountered on site, when constructing timber engineered floors. It is widely acknowledged that the fitting of web stiffeners and backer blocks is the single biggest problem when it comes to constructing an engineered I-joist floor. Thus, the Cullen design team, in conjunction with TimberSolve, have designed a brand new concept in I-joist connection. The "UI" (Universal I-Joist hanger) was developed in order to meet the ever-increasing demand from our industry partners to improve standard connection details. The industry needed a product that could transfer loads whilst eliminating the need for backer blocks and web stiffeners. Dr Luke Whale, from TimberSolve, said: "Removing the need for backer blocks is probably the most significant hanger innovation in our industry since it began." This groundbreaking development has made installation quicker, safer and more robust. As part of our innovative I-beam range the UI also has the following benefits. It requires one size of nail, is easy to specify, has a wide performance band and has been independently load tested and approved. The safe working loads range between 3.39 kN for an I-joist to I-joist connection to 9.47kN for a LVL to LVL connection.
