Latest Cullen Products Target Timber Frame Cullen Building Products' rolling New Product Development Programme has produced three new connection details, specifically for the timber frame market. These are the High Movement Wall Tie and the Disproportionate Collapse Hanger, both designed for multi-storey timber frame buildings, and the Party Wall Strap. The growth in medium to high-rise timber frame has created a demand for higher performance wall ties, allowing differential movement. The High Movement Tie (HMT) allows greater vertical movement, whilst eliminating horizontal cavity movement. The HMT range is a two-piece design with the channel section being fitted plum to the structure and secured with two nails. The tie element interlocks and provides a sliding arrangement that doesn't cause the historic binding problems normally associated with dovetail type ties. Tested and approved to BE EN 845, the HMT is available in widths to suit 50, 75 and 100mm cavities. The Disproportionate Collapse Hanger (DCH) reduces the risk of disproportionate collapse in multi-storey timber frame buildings when used as part of an engineered solution. Primarily for use in medium rise timber frame construction, the DCH provides up to a 25kN accidental safe working load and prevents catastrophic failure by reducing the area of collapse should accidental damage occur. The Party Wall Strap (PWS) has been developed to meet the requirements of Part E of the Building Regulations (Resistance to the Passage of Sound), thus reducing the risk of sound transfer while offering optimum performance.
