Making The Connection With Ireland

Cullen Building Products has been operating successfully in Ireland for several years, supplying the industry with a wide range of timber engineering connectors. During that time business has grown dramatically, turnover increasing by 40% in each of the last 3 years. In October 2004, in response to the increase in demand and a sign of Cullen's commitment to the Irish market, Cullen formed a separate operating company based in Kells to specifically service the Irish market. A year later, to consolidate the Irish presence and mark the continued success, Cullen Building Products launched a new, a purpose-built 10,000 sq ft stock-holding and distribution facility. The David Cullen plaque was unveiled by Peter McCaughey from IJM, Cullen's first ever customer in Ireland, as a mark of respect to Cullen's Chairman and founder.

As a thank you for their continued support, Cullen invited 40 customers and key industry partners to help celebrate the launch of the new facility, highlights of which included a tour of the impressive administration and warehouse facilities and a demonstration of Cullen's newest range, the Max Tools pneumatic nail guns. Lawrence Young, MD at Young Black Industrial Stapling Europe's main distributor of the range carried out the pneumatic nail gun demonstration, and said:

"Young Black are pleased to be associated with such a professional and well respected company as Cullen Building Products. MAX/Young Black are introducing new innovative tools and fasteners into the market place which means Cullen will have the opportunity to assist their customers with modern methods of fixing materials. The new Powerlite family of tools are powerful, lightweight and small which make them user friendly. They will also be selling the new MAX Gas Nailer for both clipped head and round head nails."

The guests were impressed by the power and speed of installation that is provided by the guns.

The day was finished in style when everybody congregated at the Mullingar Greyhound Track, where they were wined and dined. Although there was a mixture of winners and losers on the dogs, the entertainment continued into the early hours of the morning!
